How to Upload Your Matterport Virtual Tour to Google Street View

Welcome back to another Momentum Monday blog! In this week’s blog, learn how to upload your Matterport virtual tour to Google Street View.
If you’re a virtual tour company like Momentum 360, then you know the incredible SEO benefits that come along with linking your client’s virtual tour with Google. It can help them rank higher in search engines, generate more calls, and build brand awareness like never before! If you’ve never heard of linking Matterport virtual tours with Google, don’t worry, this step-by-step guide will answer all your questions and bring your client’s local SEO to the next level!
1) Enable Publishing to Google Street View
To make sure that your company’s account is even eligible to publish to GSV, you’ll need to check first that it’s enabled on your settings.
- First, go into your Settings tab in your Matterport account.
- Next, scroll down until you see the tab that says “Manage,” click that.
- Finally, you’ll see a screen that reads “Product Settings.” From here, you’ll have the option to enable/disable Google Street View. Make sure it’s enabled.
Once enabled, you can now publish to Google Street View! Since this is a special SEO tool, it does require a payment of $14.99 per each location uploaded to Google.
Not a bad price if you ask me. If you aren’t charging your clients this fee with the virtual tour, I believe you should. Just an easy way to give them added value and increase their rankings overall.
So, let’s get that tour on Google!

2) Publish to Google Street View
Once you click the “Publish to Google Street View” button, you’ll be directed to follow three easy steps, then it’ll be published!
- Correctly enter the Address of the Business you’d like to Publish
You’ll have the option to adjust the footprint and turn the tour to the proper entrance of the business. Make sure that you match up the entrance and outline of the business to the best of your ability.
If not, you’ll risk the tour being put on the building next to it. If by chance there’s a mistake in the placement of your tour, there’s an option to edit it again so that it’s placed in the correct spot. I’ll discuss this later on in the blog.
- Sync Your Gmail Account with Your Business
This can either be the actual business account, or a third-party marketing firm’s account. It doesn’t matter which account is used, just make sure that everyone on both parties is made aware to diminish any confusion. If you need to have two accounts for personal reasons, no worries. You can “Invite a Collaborator” and add another account to have access to edit the posting if needed.
Last but not least, we have the option to review everything before publishing. At this point I’d take a long-look at the information entered in to make sure that it’s correct. If you want to get fancy with your tour, there’s an option to show off your “Showcase Highlight Reel.” This awesome highlight reel feature allows the tour to guide itself, taking you through every room of the building.
Want to explore the building yourself? You still can! Just simply click on the desired area and Matterport will now allow you to be in control of the tour. If you want a Guided Tour to continue, just press the play button icon in the bottom left hand corner.
Normally, we only select the option to include all scan points. This maximizes the number of mattertags you can put in a single tour, but it’s still a great option if you only want to focus on the best parts of the tour.
Once you see everything is ship shape, hit “Publish” and then your tour will be published! Normally, it takes about 24-48 hours to fully publish to Google, to be safe.
For some reason, if there were still errors when you published, this can still be fixed. Once your tour is published, there is an option to edit or delete the published tour to Google. If you decide to make changes and republish it, you won’t be charged an extra $14.99 for publishing it again. Win!
3) Virtual Tour Analytics
After you have the tour uploaded with all the proper information, you’ll have the option to check out the analytics of your tour and who viewed it! This is great from an analytics standpoint because it can generate solid data to clients and it can be a foot in the door for future services such as PPC (Pay-Per-Click) and SEO!
