Virtual Tours of Zoos

Virtual Tours of Zoos

Hey everyone and welcome back to another Momentum 360 blog! In this week’s blog, we are going to be taking a look at some virtual tours of zoos around the world. Right now is the perfect time to be taking advantage of virtual tours of zoos, not only because of visitor restrictions due to the Coronavirus but also because the weather is getting colder as we move closer to winter.

In today’s blog, we’re going to talk about the benefits of virtual tours in zoos and we’re going to be highlighting a couple of awesome zoos and animal habitats available to see online. These exhibits are perfect for animal lovers of all ages and are the perfect way to learn about animals you don’t see every day. Check it out!

Benefits of Virtual Tours of Zoos

Let’s be honest, nothing in the world has been completely normal for months now. We’re all learning to live with our new normal as best as we can. One of my favorite activities as a kid was going to the zoo in the summer and seeing the coolest animals in the world. When the virus shut everything down, zoos were forced to close to the public to ensure the safety of the zoologists and the animals they care for.

In a time where everyone was stuck at home trying to figure out how to keep themselves and their children entertained and learning, people turned to exciting educational opportunities they could access online.

Now, doing a virtual tour of a zoo isn’t the same as a museum’s virtual tour. In a museum, exhibitions are mostly stagnant and can be captured in a photograph. In a zoo, however, the main attraction is the animals who are living, breathing, and moving creatures. You can’t capture the majesticness of a lion in a photograph.

So how do these virtual tours work? Well, a combination of virtual reality, live cams, and 360 technology.

The live cams are pretty self-explanatory, a camera is set up on a specific enclosure and sends a live stream to the zoo’s website. People can log on at any time and from anywhere to see what’s going on in that enclosure. These are very popular for when an animal is about to give birth.

360 technology and virtual reality are used to simulate an in-person visit to the zoo, with renderings of the attractions to make you feel like you are actually there.

Online Virtual Tours of Zoos

Paignton Zoo

This UK Zoo has one of the most comprehensive zoo virtual tours. Paignton has a 360 aerial view tour of eight areas of their zoo. In this tour, visitors can learn about species of different animals while actually seeing what they look like in their enclosures. Some of these include crocodiles, lions, giraffes, and more!

In addition to this virtual tour, Paignton Zoo also has live cams set up for their flamingos, meerkats, and the Sulawesi Crested Macaque.

National Aquarium

The National Aquarium is an exhibit we have highlighted before in our “Educational 3D Tours” blog. This Baltimore-based aquarium is home to over 20,000 animals, including over 800 species. When you think aquarium, chances are you think of tropical fish, sharks, and turtles. While the National Aquarium has all these, they also have animals like birds, amphibians, and even mammals. All the animals housed in the National Aquarium have a unique connection to water, even if you wouldn’t think of them as fitting in an aquarium.

In this virtual tour, users can explore different areas like the Tropical Rainforest, the Atlantic Coral Reef, the Amazon Rainforest, and so much more! In these areas, visitors can also click and learn more information about the animals and fish native to these regions. This is an easy-to-use tour full of information that is perfect for any age.

Plus, it has some really cute pictures of dolphins!

Taronga Zoo

Taronga Zoo in Sydney, Australia is home to many exhibits including a wildlife retreat, African Savannah, rainforest, and more! Using 3D technology in Google Street View, visitors can explore the Taronga Zoo in detail. You can see all the different enclosures and animals that the zoo has to offer.

This includes animals usually only found in Australia, so if you’re like us, this may be the only opportunity to see cute and cuddly koalas, kangaroos, and more!

Virtual Tours on College Campuses

Virtual Tours on College Campuses

Hey everyone, and welcome back to another Momentum Monday! We’re getting deep into fall now, and before you know it, it’ll be Halloween and Thanksgiving!

Fall is an exciting time of year for a bunch of reasons, not just those aforementioned holidays. Fall means apple picking, sweater weather, and pumpkin spice everything, just to name a few reasons. The best part of fall is that everyone is in a preparation mindset – preparing for the holidays, wrapping up this year (finally!), and getting ready for the next one. For a lot of high school seniors, this is also the time of year to be sending out college applications and waiting patiently (or impatiently) to hear back from their dream schools.

The college application process is a little different this year than in years past. Because of the Coronavirus pandemic, there are no in-person campus tours or open houses. Even if you manage to go visit a campus, it’s not likely to be the hub of activity it once was.

This can be challenging for universities. Because going to college is so expensive, many people are skeptical of committing to a school they haven’t actually seen. So, like all of us during these troubling times, colleges have had to adapt from business-as-usual. What does this look like for colleges? You guessed it, virtual tours!

To be fair, many schools already employed some level of 3D tours for the campuses. Even without a global pandemic, virtual tours are an excellent way to showcase a college campus and can be an invaluable tool for prospective students that don’t have the means to visit a campus in-person.

That being said, since many campuses this semester are fully online, incorporating a hybrid class schedule, or operating at reduced capacity, there has never been a better time to get a virtual tour of campus.

In this week’s blog, we’re going to be highlighting some tools to find virtual campus tours and showcasing some universities that have taken the leap into 3D tour technology.

Virtual tour tools

Unless you know exactly what you’re looking for, navigating a university’s website can be time-consuming, tricky, or disheartening. But don’t worry, there are ways to circumvent this arduous process.

Google is your friend when looking for a virtual tour. By simply typing “[Name of College] virtual tour” into your browser, if the school you are looking up has a virtual tour, it should pop up as the first result.

word image

This is especially helpful if you know exactly which college you want to check out. However, not all prospective students know immediately which schools they want to see. That’s fine, too!

One great tool to utilize if you’re looking to get a broader range of results is CampusTours. This is a search engine specifically designed to show you virtual tours of college campuses. CampusTours offers you the choice of searching for a specific school, schools in a certain state/providence, or even in countries outside of the USA. If you look through their advanced search tool, there are even more options to search by including tuition costs, student body size, selectivity of the school, sports, majors, and more!

Examples of Virtual Tours

Harvard University – Cambridge, MA

Harvard University is one of the most selective and prestigious universities in the world. It has produced more politicians, doctors, lawyers, engineers, and other world-changing professionals than can be named. So it comes as no surprise that Harvard has an extensive virtual tour available for all those that are looking to check out their dorms, academic buildings, and the campus itself, complete with all the essential information you could need.

Temple University – Philadelphia, PA

Temple University is Philadelphia’s public university. With a campus spanning 390 acres and a student body of almost 40,000 students, Temple has also hopped aboard the 3D tour train with an interactive and guided tour of research facilities, green areas, academic buildings, and residence halls to let prospective students see what life would be like learning and living in the heart of North Philadelphia.

University of Southern California – Los Angeles, CA

The University of Southern California, commonly referred to as USC, is an elite university located in beautiful Los Angeles, California. USC has a diverse population and has many ties culturally and historically to the City of Angels. Their virtual tour takes viewers through their word image picturesque campus, offering information about campus and the university itself. There is even an option to take a tour specifically about the art and architecture on campus.

There are thousands and thousands of these kinds of virtual tours set up for colleges all across the country. Here at Momentum 360, we couldn’t be happier with this push to incorporate virtual tours into all aspects of life, and we want to see it go further! We have said from the beginning that virtual tours are an essential aspect of any kind of business, and college campuses are no different.

Virtual Luxury Home Tours

Virtual Luxury Home Tours

Hey everybody, welcome back to another Momentum 360 blog!

It’s officially October! Does anyone else feel like this year has been so long and yet went so quickly? It’s been a weird year, to say the least.

This week’s blog is a fun one. Today we’re going to be talking about virtual luxury home tours – where to find them, how useful they are, and we’ll show one of our favorites! Let’s get started.

What Makes a Luxury Home?

According to RocketHomes, a luxury home is defined as “one that is valued within the top 10% of properties on the local market. Luxury homes tend to be considerable in size, located in optimal areas, constructed and finished with high-end materials and designed with uncommon architectural details and exceptional amenities.”

These homes are fancy, with beautiful architecture and incredible design features, enough to make any passerby immediately jealous. Many of us will unfortunately never have the means to buy one of these homes, but why should that stop us from enjoying them anyway?

Where To Find Them

Did you know Momentum 360 has locations all over the country? Headquartered in Philadelphia, we’re so grateful to have expanded to over 30 locations nationwide, plus in Canada. If you’re a realtor looking to get a virtual tour for your luxury home listing, look no further! We have a 5 star Google rating across the board and are the perfect choice for your virtual tour needs.

If you’re looking to purchase or rent your own luxury home, Momentum 360 has tours in all the best cities for it, including beautiful beach homes in New Jersey, Los Angeles, Florida, and many more. Check them out on our website here!

It’s easy to find virtual tours of luxury homes using search parameters on any given realtor’s website. According to the previously mentioned definition of a “luxury” home, all you would have to do is filter out results in your preferred neighborhood based on size and highest prices.

How Useful Tours Are

If you’ve been reading our blogs for awhile now (and even if you haven’t!), you should know that here at Momentum 360, virtual tours for real estate are one of our biggest priorities. We believe that every and any industry can benefit from a virtual tour, but real estate in the face of the Coronavirus pandemic has proven that virtual tours are a necessity.

The country is slowly but surely reopening after the national shutdown back in March. Unfortunately, real estate has taken a hit in terms of being able to host open houses and have in-person tours of properties. Luckily, realtors are moving to being able to do this virtually with the help of Matterport 3D tours.

These 3D tours are also useful even if a luxury home is a little out of your price range. Because these luxury homes are supposed to be the best of the best, hopefully your dream luxury home would have all of the things you want in your home (even if yours isn’t “luxury”). By being able to walk through these homes that have it all, you can get a much better understanding of what your actual needs are, versus what is just a wishlist item.

Plus, seeing your dream luxury home can give you an extra thing to work hard for, much like a dream car or dream vacation!

Momentum 360’s Favorite Luxury Home

One of the fanciest and most luxurious homes that Momentum 360 has had the pleasure of doing a virtual tour for is this one, Penthouse 1609, a lavish penthouse apartment located in South Beach, Miami Beach, Florida. It is rented out by 1 Hotel & Homes South Beach.

word image

South Beach is one of the neighborhoods of Miami Beach. This scenic neighborhood glitters with trendy nightlife, luxury oceanfront hotels, fine dining, and a world-famous beach scene.

Luckily for you, Momentum 360 just opened up our Miami location. Here to serve the south Florida community, we are looking forward to shooting more beautiful residential real estate in the Miami and Miami beach locations.

Some more locations we love to shoot virtual luxury home tours are Brigantine, Deal, and Avalon, all cities located on the New Jersey Shore that are home to multi-million dollar homes. These homes are beautiful, spacious, incredibly-designed, and are SO much fun for us to show off using 3D virtual tours.

Educational 3D Tours

Happy Monday everyone!

Here at Momentum 360 we’ve been grinding hard as usual, constantly growing our team and our locations so we can provide you with the best 3D virtual tours in the game!

As much as we all wish the Coronavirus was just a bad memory, the truth is it’s still affecting daily life. Many of us are still working from home, doing school via Zoom, or avoiding our favorite hangout spots. A lot of us are feeling cooped up at home these days and looking for new activities and routines to settle into. This can be especially hard if you have younger kids who haven’t been able to go to school.

That’s why this week’s blog is all about educational 3D tours. These are fun and informative activities perfect for kids or for yourself. Check it out!

The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, located in Washington, D.C., is one of the most famous museums in the United States. By using their virtual tour feature, you can see their permanent exhibits like the Fossil Hall or Deep Ocean Room, current exhibits like African Voices or the Butterfly Pavillion, past exhibits, and you can take a narrated virtual tour! Their website also offers tours of the Smithsonian Castle and the Hirshhorn Sculpture Garden.

According to their website, “The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History virtual tours allow visitors to take self-guided, room-by-room tours of select exhibits and areas within the museum from their desktop or mobile device. Visitors can also access select collections and research areas at our satellite support and research stations as well as past exhibits no longer on display.”

The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China is one of the most famous places in the world and is one of the 7 Wonders of the World. Spanning over 3,000 miles and used as a defense system, construction began the Great Wall of China way back in 221 BC. That’s over 2,000 years ago!

Today, the Great Wall of China is a major tourist destination. And you don’t even need a passport to see it! TheChinaGuide offers free tours of 3 spots along the wall – a scenic area, a watchtower in disrepair, and a bird’s eye view. They also offer a more extensive tour for only $5.

Boston Children’s Museum

We’ve talked about this particular tour already, in our blog “Virtual Tours For Museums” back in April of this year, but it bears repeating.

The Boston Children’s Museum has three floors full of virtual tour walkthroughs for children of all ages, including an interactive Japanese House and Explore-a-Saurus exhibits.

According to a museum spokesperson, “Boston Children’s Museum’s virtual tour helps families plan their visit from the comfort of their homes. This free feature is especially important for first-time visitors. During this unprecedented time of quarantine, families have been checking out the tour as a way to enjoy a virtual field trip. Those with young children who are missing the Museum like seeing it on their screen.

The Museum’s virtual tour has been shared around the world as a great resource for families.”

The Lourve

This is another museum we’ve talked about before, but as one of the most famous museums in the world, can you blame us for being excited about this one?

There are a million reasons to want to visit Paris. The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Arc de Triomph, the delicious food, and so on and so forth. Since it’s still Corona season and there are travel restrictions that are likely to change day-by-day, going to Paris is a bit of a longshot right now unless you live in Europe.

The Lourve, located in the heart of Paris, France, is home to famous art like the Mona Lisa and 70,000 other priceless pieces. It is also one of the largest museums in the entire world. On their website, visitors have access to 7 exhibits, ranging from Galerie d’Apollon to Remains of the Louvre’s Moat, and more.

National Aquarium

Everyone knows that zoos and aquariums are some of the most fascinating places, full of the most incredible animals and aquatic creatures that most of us would never get to see in our lives. That’s why it’s so cool that the National Aquarium in Baltimore, MD, is offering virtual tours online.

In this virtual tour, users can explore different areas like the Tropical Rainforest, the Atlantic Coral Reef, the Amazon Rainforest, and so much more! In these areas, visitors can also click and learn more information about the animals and fish native to these regions.

Nothing can compare to being there in-person, but it is very cool to see and learn about it through a virtual tour as well.
