Optimizing Your Page

The first step to grow your page is to make sure it’s optimized for success. There’s an assortment of things you can do to make sure you’re getting your page up for success. I’ll go through a laundry list of items to tackle, and once that’s finished, you’ve set a solid foundation for your page to have success and get leads:

  1. Update Your Profile Picture
  • Without a clean, high definition profile picture, people won’t think you’re as professional as you think you are. I’d recommend hiring a local photographer to take a nice high definition headshot of you, preferably with a nice shallow depth of field to make you look as professional as possible. You can also take your crafty iPhone and take headshots yourself if budget is an issue, you can learn how to do that here.
  1. Background Photo
  • This is the perfect way to showcase your company branding and services, a perfect example of this is what we do here at Momentum 360, as you can see from this link and profile here.

  1. Headline
  • Instead of putting your job title and what you do here, make it entertaining, turn it into a story! Better yet, if you have a tagline or slogan for your company, this is the perfect opportunity to add it here.
  1. Record Name Pronunciation
  • I know this is a little corny, but you only have to do this once, and LinkedIn will prioritize your profile since you’re adhering to their new policies. Granted, this isn’t mandatory, but LinkedIn likes to see what you’re using all of their features. So clear your voice really quick, and do a brief pronunciation check of your name, that way you can be in even better good standing with LinkedIn.
  1. List Your Skills & Services
  • You also need to add your skills and services that you do, so potential leads can search and find people like you who do services that they need. The more thorough you are with this, the better.
  1. Add Company Information
  • This is a great opportunity to add your company information and website, so whenever you post on LinkedIn, your website will be shown for visitors as you can see here. This way, it’s incentivizing you to post more often to your profile.

Creating Stunning Content People Want to Consume

  1. Hook = Get people to notice your content once, give them a reason to consume your stuff… if they aren’t… your stuff isn’t that good yet.

Example of Hooks:

  • Life Lessons
  • Calendar Breakdown
  • Real Time Capture (Current Events)
  • Trends (Apply your Lens to Something Trending)
  1. Retain = Get people to notice your content consistently, make your content appear in their algorithm.

Example of Retains:

  • Steps = “3 Steps to Creating A Great Hook” & “How to Create a Great Headline in 7 Steps”
  • Lists = “ 7 Ways I Invested $1,000 in my 20’s” & “28 Ways to Stay Poor”
  • Stories = Go through your calendar and pick a lesson that can teach your audience something.
  1. Reward = Satisfy their reason for consuming your content, get them to DEMAND your content.

Example of Rewards:

  • If your audience grows, your stuff is getting better.
  • If your audience shrinks, your stuff is getting worse.

Pros

  • Grows your warm audience (The people in your sphere of influence you can reach out to fluidly)
  • Makes all other forms of advertising more effective (You’ve already created a popular brand)
  • It’s the highest ROI (Creating content for you is free)

Cons

  • Difficult to personalize.
  • You’re competing with everyone, so it’s difficult to stand out.
  • If you’re good… people will copy you. You need to innovate to stay relevant.

Pro Tip

  • Make your content for strangers, as it’ll grow your audience faster, and your existing audience won’t mind.

An Easy LinkedIn Tip That You Can’t Miss

Ever see those profiles that are connecting with thousands, if not tens of thousands of people? Do you see a common theme between them and you? What is it? I’ll tell you, it’s using polls. It’s that simple.

Check out this poll I did in the past, and look how many people engaged with it, pretty cool right? What’s even better, is that a lot of people reposted my poll, so that more people see them.

What’s even better, is that I connected individually with each and every person who engaged with my poll in some way in the DM section. I learned who they are, what they do, who they help, and offered to give them free value to build a relationship with them. I didn’t try to sell them, I just offered value and made them like, know, and have trust in me. These three items are some of the most important things to note.

Consistently Engaging With Your Audience

This is one of the most underrated hacks to growing your audience. So many people post content and get people to engage with their content, but they rarely interact with their audience’s content! How wild is that?

It’s a two way street, you need to post content while engaging with others content at the same time. Just doing this alone will put you ahead of your competitors, going the extra mile for your audience will make them more likely to want to connect with you and feel like they need to give something back to you. The more you can build up this feeling of leverage in people, the better.

If you don’t have the time to necessarily engage with your audience in a long-winded conversation, you can use LinkedIn’s new AI tool to comment on relevant statements/questions pertaining to the post. You don’t want to just say anything to your audience, you want to ask thought-provoking questions to build a deeper relationship with them. You want to make them not forget you, so you can interact with them in the future and get referrals from them.

Organically Growing Your Page Using Connections

This is one of the best ways to grow your audience using LinkedIn… it’s using the connections feature!

Just like Facebook how you can “friend” someone, and like Instagram how you can “follow” someone, with LinkedIn you can “connect” with about 200-300 people per week. I started my profile in 2020, and I’ve been consistently maxing out my connections since then. So, if you do the math, that’s 3 years, which means 208 consecutive weeks of connecting with people. Now granted, that doesn’t mean I have a following count of 42,000-62,000, because not everyone accepted my connection. However, to have close to 20,000 organic followers that can see my content and interact with me on a daily basis, that is worth the price of admission.

For me, I want to make sure that I build my reputation up well enough to where people can share my stuff with their friends and colleagues, growing my reach even more without me needing to do that.

This is another overlooked feature to growing your LinkedIn profile for free. Sure, it’s going to take more time, but in the grand scheme of things, you’ll get a higher ROI learning how to make good content that your audience interacts with, and actually interacting with your audience. Making sure that you’re putting in the long hours to build up your reputation.
